Jo Dalstead is a postgraduate law student with a passion for tutoring fostered over years of experience. She graduated from a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne in 2019, majoring in History and Criminology. During that time, Jo tutored first year Indigenous Australian university students at Murrup Barak. Simultaneously, Jo tutored VCE English, Drama and History: Revolutions students, helping them achieve fantastic results. She has a particular passion for English and the written word and loves tutoring students in this area at all skill levels.
Jo’s tutoring style involves discussing and delegating. She seeks to empower her students through boosting their confidence, something that is often undermined in the difficult transitional years of late high school and early university. Further, she aims to equip them with the skills necessary to tackle assignments successfully throughout their academic future, teaching them how to answer questions in a clear, concise manner; addressing criterion in a way which is easy for examiners to assess. Jo promotes learning through interaction and engagement, facilitating it through asking students not only for their answer, but for their entire thought process. Jo’s experience with technology allows her to continue this engagement with her students in the growing online learning space.
